Growing up in a house with 3 other siblings wasn’t always the easiest for my parents. Most of the time my brother and I were fighting or taking apart my dad’s lawn mower… That didn’t go over so well.
However, they had a secret on how to deal with all of the madness. They new how to influence us in a way where we would agree with the desired action or result they wanted.
You may be thinking, “Oh please tell me! I have a 30-year-old son that needs to move out and get a job!”
Because like many, there may be some children… or EMPLOYEES that need a little more influencing in order for them to do, not what you want, but what you NEED them to do.
I would venture to guess that your entire business may depend on it!
If you Google, Top Reasons for Getting Fired, you’ll see that many of the results could have been prevented if the employee had been influenced enough in the right direction. For example, employees not doing what they are told is a big reason why they would get fired.
However, was it the employees fault (possibly) or was the manager not skilled enough to clearly communicate the needs of the company and influence the employee?
By being skilled at influencing others, you can get the most out of your employees, business, and customers..
Think of all the financial benefits!
It’s time! Let’s get to get to the formula for influencing others so you can get the most out of your business.
Evidence + Benefits + Action = Desirable Actions and Results
Let’s break this down.
Evidence – Providing evidence behind your means of influence, creates a base reasoning behind your desired action. Remember, evidence DEFEATS doubt!
Evidence could be any of the following:
Benefit – Clearly communicating the benefit of the action provides the necessary why you are looking for this particular result.
Action – You MUST communicate the exact action or result you are looking for. This helps the receiving party fully understand what you are needing of them so there isn’t any misunderstanding.
This combination of Evidence + Benefits + Action creates a solid front for obtaining desired actions or results and becomes very difficult to ignore or refute.
Don’t forget, influence can be a very powerful tool and should NOT be used for any negative manipulation.
Develop the skill of influence to help build others and your business to their fullest potential.
